Boy oh Boy

My little man is getting SO big! He is going to be 18 months old on Tuesday, where has the time gone? I really can't believe he's going to be a whole year and a half old. Is it just me or is 18 months a fairly significant time? He walks, he runs, he climbs, he can kick his ball (somethign we've been waiting for since he learned to throw a ball at 7 months). He is evolving into Mr. Personality. He knows when he's pushing my buttons, he likes to make cute faces. It cracks me up to watch him in my rearview mirror when we're driving. He just sits back there and makes the cutest, silliest faces! He likes to "get" Daddy and chases him all over. Most importantly, he's talking up a storm. He has 20 plus words and tries new ones every day. I must admit, the new ones don't sound like words, simply sounds. Like "thank you"... it sounds like "bay boo". I am just happy he attempts the new words. Please is certainly my favorite. When he wants something, I simply ask him "what do you say"... my reward? the cutest little "pleee". I love beign a mother! Oh yeah, here are a few photos from the park. Aidan just LOVES when Daddy comes with us!

I didn't think so! HEHE!

It's been forever since I blogged! I got so caught up in Facebook that I didn't understand why I needed a million places to keep people updated. I still don't see why. Unless anyone can explain why a blog is more useful then facebook, it's probably going to stay that way too! Although I do enjoy reading everyone elses' blogs!

Aidan is a walking, talking toddler now. He is all over the place and I am amazed at how quickly he picked up walking. He's very close to running, he tries to then gets going and falls over. He is much steadier on his feet now! I even let him walk into stores with me, holding my hand and he LOVES it!

Yesterday, I bought Aidan a baby doll. ANthony didn't care for the idea. I showed him how Aidan carries it all over hugging it close to him and when he stops he gives it kisses. We were both pretty surprised how he knew how to do that. He has even started making the kiss noise when he kisses it! It is too cute.

So, it's been forever since I updated our blog!

Little Aidan started taking his first steps on Wednesday night! We are so darn excited. It seems though that Anthony gets hung up on these things. He wants him to do things right now! LOL! It was no help when he told his mom Wednesday night that he took his first steps and she told him that he would be walking the next day. Well, go figure, he wasn't walking the next day. Anthony wanted to know what was wrong since he wasn't walking yet. UGH! He will walk when he is ready. The first steps are only that... it will be a little while or so before he is steady enough on his feet to walk confidently, even then, most babies prefer crawling because it is faster!

He is just too darn cute though when he takes those steps.... he looks for me as if to say" Mom, do you see me? Are you watching?"

I wouldn't trade these moments for any others in the world! He is so full of energy and is Mister Personality right now! I love that he comes to find me for a reassurance when we are playing outside and that he looks for my approval when he is doing something new. This bond that seems to grow stronger everyday really is overwhelming for me. I cannot express the feelings I have a as a mother while watching him learn new things! Even if this means waking up 6 times a night right now!

He also is truly enjoying playing outside! He can spend hours playing in the dirt or picking dandelions! If we are inside, he spends most of his time standing at the window so he can see outside.. ah, the joys of being one! I made sure to add a couple pictures of him outside... ENJOY!

Wow, it has been awhile since I posted!

Aidan has started copying everything we do, it is rather cute. On his list... he holds the phone to his ear, he points the remote at the TV, he spits (when we sneeze!), he attempts to put my sunglasses on and lastly, he combs his own hair! I find it adorable when he tries so hard to immitate the things we do!

Aidan also has a new word! He says "Boo" when we play peek-a-boo! The running total is 3 words! We have "Ni Ni" for ni-night, "ba" for ball, and now "boo" for peek-a-boo! YAY!

Aidan also now has 6 teeth and is working on two more. Once those come in, he will have all 4 front teeth on both the top and bottom! It is so cute to hear his using his teeth to bite pieces off his animal crackers. Yeah, I'm weird, I know. It is just so cute to hear that big crunch come from his little teeth!

Last of all, Aidan has been "free standing". Most of the time, he doesn't realize he isn't holding on to things anymore and when he does, he falls. However, today my little man was on his hands and knees then stood up with his hands on the floor... then stood all the way up! All by himself! No prompting, no support (other then the floor). I am SO excited!!!!! My little guy is getting SO big! It won't be soon and he'll be walking! I am looking forward to him being able to walk as the weather gets warmer. That way, when we spend a lot of time outside he won't be crawling all over the place, rather walking.

Aidan has officially learned how to get into our cuboards! LOL! I'm not too concerned, we have locks on the ones he shouldn't be in. He had a ball throwing my tupperware all over the kitchen. He also enjoyed dragging his toys over and outting them in the cuboard! I love this age :)

So, while driving home from Ross the other day, Aidan grabbed my bag from the backseat. Apparently he thought my new bra was a hat! He is absolutely fascinated with putting everything on his head right now. Of ocurse, if it is actually his hat, he wants it off. perhaps I should just give him a bra to wear on his head when we go outside? As least I know he'll keep it on!

My friend from highschool was moving back to Washington from North Carolina last week and came through Spokane with her family to stay the night with us! Our kids have never met eachother. In fact, the last time I saw her was when she threw my baby shower! It was so great to see the kids. They had a BLAST together!

Aidan had a fantastic first Easter. Well, almost first Easter. We came home form the hospital on Easter last year! He had a great time at the Easter Egg hunt yesterday! We are looking forward to next year when he can walk around to pick up his eggs :) It was adorable though, he would pick them up and say "bah" (ball) then try to throw them. We all had a blast. I will have to post some pictures this week of him playing with his new remote control car he got in his basket!

Chuck E Cheese

Aidan and I took our first trip to Chuck E Cheese yesterday. He enjoyed himself immensely. I enjoyed that he is not old enough to care about actually putting tokens in the games and rides which means we enjoyed Chuck E Cheese for FREE! We didn't stay too long since it was nap time. I did however get some super cute pictures!

This is the cutest Little turtle from Grandpa Monte.. Aidan LOVES it!

G-ma got this adorable little boat that even floats in the bath tub. It is his first Little People set, we can't wait to get another one! Mommy loves that it's his first "Lego" set!

Aidan also got this picnic table from Grandma Jackie! The top is lowered right now since Aidan isn't quite big enough to sit on the benches. He loves to play with his new toys on it though!

At 9:03 AM a little baby boy was born! He weighed 7 pounds and 6 oz and was 20 inches long. We were very proud parents! Well, today that little boy is 1! Our ER Visit

Let me start this off with, I thought I was prepared for motherhood and would never be a mother who was constantly worried about the little things. Well, I am. I swear that I have called and spoke with the nurse at his peds office 25 times since he was born! UGH! She constantly reassures me that she would prefer to have me asking a bunch of questions or bringing him in to be checked out then to NOT do it and him come down with something that turns worse from it not being treated.

Anyways, Aidan had a bottle before bed last night and slept the WHOLE night! YAY! Well, he woke up and had a bottle, took a nap and then we were leaving for some errands. Well, he was super crabby. I tried giving him some motrin and after only half of his dose he gags and then pukes ALL over himself and my carpet! So, we change his clothes, wipe up the carpet and ditch the motrin. 30 minutes later we are in the car and once again.. he starts puking! UGH! So, we pull over and wipe him up (I need to keep a set of clean clothes in the car). About an hour goes by and we are at Other Mother's and he is CRABBY! I make him a bottle and my sister is holding him feeding it to him. 2 1/2 ounces later and he starts puking all over himself, my sister and the floor! Well, I rush outside so he is no longer puking on the floor. Also, I bought him some new jammies and we hit the road. He gets home, takes a nap and wakes up. I gave him a 4 ounce bottle of WATER (my son doesn't really drink juice and I figured water would be easier on his stomach). Well, up came the water. I have to throw in there, this is not just a little puke. Everytime he pukes EVERYTHING comes up, his whole little body wretches and it comes out his nose... my poor baby.

So, Anthony suggests I take his temp and call the doctor. 100.5... not bad. The nurse says I should bring him into the ER so they can get him on some IV fluids if needed. Well, we trek down to Sacred Heart (we've been there once before and I LOVE their peds ER). It most certainly was not busy the first time we went. Well, we arrived at 8 and were taken back to the PEDS waiting room..... it was PACKED!

Aidan was super crabby, after all, he hadn't kept anything is his stomach all day and it was his bedtime. Well, he wanted a bottle. I figured if he wants it, I will give it to him. He vomits all over the floor. HAHA! It was a little amusing to see the face on the lady next to me. I knew he was going to vomit, I just have a hard time telling my 11 month old sick son that he can't have his bottle! Anthony goes to get a "puke" bowl and the lady at the counter says "well, if you didn't feed him, he wouldn't puke". Really? Thanks Einstine! I'm not telling my hungry, tired, sick baby that he can't eat because she doesn't want to clean the puke up! So, they take us into triage and give him a little "magic" pill. She said after 20 minutes we could try giving him some pedialite. We got into our room at 10!!! By 10:30 the actual doctor was seeing us. He said just keep giving him the pedialite and if he continues to keep down a sufficient amount of fluids, he will send us home.. no IV needed! YAY!

There was a catch.... Aidan does NOT like pedialite. GO figure. The nurse kept saying I couldn't give him formula because it was too hard on his tummy. I finally got her to ask the doctor and he said fluids are fluids, if he takes it and keeps it down, fine. 5 ounces later, no puking and were released with 24 hrs worth of doses of that "magic" pill. I totally forgot what it is called but the doctor said it works great. He also proceeded to tell me that 30 pills costs about $750!!!! Most insurances don't cover it, which is why they give them to you at the ER.

So, our little guy is in bed now. Poor baby didn't get to sleep until 11:45. I hope he continues to do well with these pills and hopefully no more puking!

Not Me Monday

I most certainly did not change my son's diaper after breakfast this morning and then forget to change it after his first nap. I also did not pull him out of his highchair after dinner tonight and realize his pants were soaked and that he hadn't had his diaper changed since this morning! I most certianly do not qualify for Worst Mother of the Year award now. And since this was not me today... nobody can call CPS and report me for neglect ;)

TOOTH! Aidan has finally cut one of his top teeth. Earlier today I could just feel the corner of it through and tonight before bed the whole bottom of the tooth was through! YAY! We have been working on this for WEEKS! I have been able to see it there but it wouldn't cut through and it finally did! WooHoo! I'm an excited Mommy! That makes three teeth through and one more on the way!

Hair Cut

So, Mommy had a haircut today and decided that Aidan was long over due for one. I just gave Aidan his 4th (yes FOURTH) haircut in 10 months. His hair is CRAZY! I notice that I go shorter and shorter everytime! He looks like a big boy with his haircut. I WISH I could load pictures onto my computer (darn kids). LOL! Maybe I will have the neighbor take a picture with his cell phone so I can get it on here. He is SO stinkin cute!

On another not so happy note. Aidan is teething, well, has been teething for a few weeks now. I can see his stinkin teeth in there, they just won't come through. For the last 4 days he has been grumpy all day long and for the past 3 nights he has cried his way through the last hour and a half before bed time! I tried everything last night, motrin, oragel, cold washcloths, teething rings... MY FINGERS! Nothing would comfort him, he just sat in my arms bawling. He did this for so long that he PUKED his raviolis up all over my lap, the couch and the carpet. He did it again this morning and puked all over himself, the lazyboy and the floor. UGH! I feel terrible for him but that sound just starts to make my head twitch after awhile. Right now he is content (after already crying for 15 minutes). As long as I don't look at him, talk to him, or walk past him he should be okay.

So, Anthony just handed Aidan a big plastic cup to play with. Aidan put it up to his mouth like he was drinking then BURPED, super loud right into the cup and it echoed. He looked at Anthony and started cracking up at himself. It is so cute when Aidan makes himself laugh!

Aidan has learned how to play catch! Well, a 10 month old version! You throw the ball to him and then he picks it up and thows it back! It is the cutest thing, when he throws it he puts all of this effort into it and grunt and everything. I tried getting some video of Aidan playing catch with his Daddy last night but our camera was dead! As soon as I get it charged I will get some video of our little ball player!

Aidan has mastered pulling himself up now. He pulls himself up on everything! I was standing up next to the dining table and he pulled himself right up on my leg! I think he might also be getting close to free standing. This evening he has started to push himself off the couch and bending over to reach the ground rather then push back and fall on his butt. He is cruising all over the place too! From one end of the couch to the other! Our little boy is getting so big! He also plays patti-cake now. As soon as I start to sing it he starts clapping. I am a very proud Mommy!

Aidan is just a little champ at pulling himself up! Since yesterday he is now able to quickly pull himself to his feet. Today he also walked all the way around his Leap Frog table. It was SO cute! Anthony is so proud of him. Not to say I'm not, Anthony is just ecstatic to see Aidan doing "big boy" things. I think part of this come from seeing little ones Aidan's age at the mall play area the other day who were very skilled at pulling themselves up, crawling and even one walking. Our little boy is getting SO big!

Birthday

OMGoodness! Aidan is going to be 1 in a couple of months! This means time to start thinking about a birthday party! I realized we don't have many friends as a family (at least not any with kids!) so it will be a small party. Anthony's mom should be up here and I am going to try and plan it for when my mom is in town as well. Maybe Aidan will make himself a little friend in M&M before his birthday. Although, I guess he can't really make friends if I don't take him out! I am getting excited thinking about his first birthday!

On another note, Aidan has chewed on our cord for the camera and at the moment I can't upload pictures!!!! UGH! I need to buy a new cord. He also started playing patti-cake with me! I have played with him for awhile and tpday when I started singing he started clapping! YAY!

Spaghetti and a Bath!

Aidan had his first dinner of spaghetti tonight! It was messy and fun! He enjoyed it and his bath afterwards! He had a cup in his bath with him and picked it up and startted drinking from it, it was too cute! He knew exactly what he was doing. He also has started splashing. A day in the life of Aidan

Aidan was a busy bee today. We found some sippy cups that Aidan will actually drink from (thanks for the suggestion of awitching cups Kim). He loves them. We also switched off of that icky smelling EXPENSIVE formula. Aidan has been using Similac Allimentum since he was about 1 1/2 months old. $25 a can!!! Most formula runs at about $13 a can. We were given the "okay" from his pediatrician to try and make the switch to Similac Sensitive. So far, two bottles down and no vomit! YAY! Here's a few photos from today!

Aidan's new "thing" is trying to stand up, well, kind of.

He also has figured out that he can crawl into his room and play with the door stopper that makes the "boing" noise. He also likes to play hide-and-seek or peek-a-boo when he's in there and shuts the door on you.

Aidan Baidan had such a long day he actually fell asleep on me! His eyes are open in this picture, the flash woke him up! What a mean mommy!

For the last couple of minutes, I have been reciting the serenity prayer. I am going to lose my mind. Aidan has now learned how to throw fits. He throws a fit when you tell him no, he throws a fit when it's nap time, he throws a fit when you take something away or remove him from an activity. UGH! Just now he was half way through with his bottle and started shaking it, sending formula flying. I told him no, we don't shake our bottle. He looked at me and just started screaming and dropped his bottle. UGH!

So, here's Aidan's Christmas in photos:

I am gonna get him dressed up in his Christmas outfit in front of the tree to take some more now that I have decent batteries! I took these few on Christmas Eve but was a little disappointed how they turned out.

On with Christmas, Aidan got a few trucks, the Parents Bee Bop Band drum set, clothes, a first story reader, and a little puppy that has a pull string. He was very happy!

I also have a cute little video from today of Aidan playing peek-a-boo with the tree skirt that he stole from the tree. Anyways, I hope everyone's Christmas was terrific!

Aidan's First Snow

I just took Aidan out in the snow.... he HATED it! LOL! I think he was mad because his hands were cold as soon as he stuck them in the snow. He lasted less then 2 minutes. Long enough for pictures! Poor little Aidan has a very sore throat. We couldn't figure out why he wouldn't eat ALL day so we took him in to be seen. He would take his bottle, suck once or twice then grab it with his hands and push it out of his mouth. He also wasn't sleeping well. She said ears look fine but his throat looked very bad. Poor little guy. She prescribed him some antibiotics. I hope they actually do something and that he gets better soon!

Our little guy is 8 months old now! He also weighs a whopping 20 lbs!

I bought Aidan this cool Fisher Price toy at work yesterday. It's a little gumball machine. Once again, sorry no sound. It is so neat, Aidan has learned cause and effect with his new toy! YAY Aidan!

Aidan is SO close to crawling! He will get up on all fours every once in awhile or Daddy or I will put him there. When he does, he starts to rock himself back and forth. It is SO cute and I know he's almost there.

He also holds his own bottle, for the most part. He would do it if I let him but he prefers to play rather then eat and it and that drives me bonkers!

Also, both of those teeth have broken through and he looks so cute! When they are a little further through the gums I will try to get a picture! YAY! So much happening at once!

Oh yeah, I also made a new header for his blog... super cute!

YAY! Aidan's forst tooth broke through tonight. It's barely through but it looks like his other one will be through soon too! YAY! I'm a happy Mommy. Now all of that drool was worth it!

I was standing in line at Fred Meyer tonight holding Aidan and said "kisses" and leaned in to kiss him (like I always do). What does he do? He starts frantically shaking his head (like he's trying to get to my mouth) with his mouth open. I asked again for kisses and he opened his mouth and gave me kisses!!!! I had to interrupt the cashier and the lady in front of us to show them. Then I had to turn around and show the lady behind us. My little boy knows how to give kisses!!!! We rushed home to show Daddy and what does he say? "It looks like he's just opening his mouth, not giving kisses." Silly Daddy, that's how babies give kisses!!!!

We noticed this the other night and again tonight Aidan went at it. Aidan seems to think he can grab the blocks on Daddy's chest. Funny thing is, those blocks are a tattoo. It is the tattoo Anthony got for Aidan, the blocks are like those little wooden ones kids play with with the letters ABC for Aidan Bishop Campbell. I thought I would share this video with you guys, it's Aidan trying to grab the blocks!

Hair Cut!

Aidan and I got our hair cut together today! It was only his second hair cut and his first done at a salon. He looks a million time better and was such a trooper! I will post a picture of his new haircut tonight.

Aidan slept for 10 hours last night! OMGoodness, I feel like a human being this morning. No interrupted sleep! YAY! Now if only he would have a darn tooth come in! I know he has been teething, he is just a drool faucet. He went through a cranky period last week for no apparent reason. UGH! I think he also has a little cold or maybe the weather is getting to him. His little nose just runs.

Last night when Anthony was headed out to play basketball, Aidan got up on all fours like he was going to crawl. He just sat there for a minute then collapsed back down to his belly. He did it again right after that. I wish I had gotten a picture, or two or three. Crawling should be right around the corner. I did however get some cute pictures during bathtime last night. I will post my two favorites... Do you think it's time for a haircut? I DO!

Teething!

Aidan is teething. He has just been a drool fountain. I tried giving him a cold, wet washcloth today but he doesn't seem too interested. I got some video. It's cute. Pardon the closeup... I was retrieving his washcloth. Check out that awesome hair! It cracks me up, he has this little swoop thing that sticks up in the back!

Feeling Better

So, Aidan was sick for a couple of days. Not only was he, but I was miserable! I couldn't stand seeing my baby like that. He had a fever for 2 days and finally broke it this morning. I took him to the doctor yesterday and he told me it was probably just a viral infection. Aidan spent about 3 hours yesterday, screaming. It was way beyond his normal cry and it was heart wrenching. To top it all off he was a drool FOUNTAIN. It was just pouring out. So, I think maybe he is teething on top of that viral infection. He seems to be better today, just cranky and tired from his lack of sleep over these last couple days. I guess I better get used to it, cold season is coming!

I was playing with Kitty and his toy and Aidan was laying on the floor laughing hysterically. He wouldn't stop laughing. We got it on our regular video camera but we don't have the ability yet to put that on the computer so I have the next best thing for you... we got it with our digital camera. However, our digital camera doesn't record sound but you can see that he's laughing! He is obviously very tired because he was just rolling with laughter. Anyways, this was the cutest moment we've had yet with both of our boys together! (BTW, this is a very unflattering video of me!)

Sleep

Aidan slept for 8 straight hours last night! I was so excited! Before last night, we had a run of 6 hours, but never 8! He took a bath, had a bottle and went straight to bed. Here's a picture of his crazy hair after his bath. Last night was so nice. However, I am so accustomed to waking up at night I woke twice. Anthony thinks he will keep it up but I am a little more skeptical. I think it was a fluke. I guess we will see if this keeps up!

All Boy

Anthony and I have started to notice that little Aidan Baidan is a ROUGH kid! He is constantly thrashing things around and hitting himself in the head. He is very rough. If he keeps this up, he certainly will be a typical little boy. He is also infatuated with Kitty, our new kitten. He just watches him jump around the house. He was able to get a good hold on him earlier and seemed to enjoy that. Kitty has also taken to sitting in our laps while we feed Aidan his bottles. It looks like they are going to be GREAT pals!

There seem to be new things happening with Aidan everyday. I had him in his jumperoo for a little while so I could use the computer and I turned around to find that he had partially taken his shirt off! This is a first for him... he has never tried to undress himself before. We will see if he tried again, then i will know if it was done on purpose or if he didn't know what he was doing. This leaves me dreading the time later down the road when he learns to remove all of his clothes and his diaper!!! I've heard stories about moms who duct tape their kiddos diapers on!!! AAHHHH!

Sitting Up

We are working on sitting up with little Aidan. His legs are so strong that he pushes himself over backwards constantly. He's almost there though. As long as we put a toy in front of him he's happy and will stay sitting for a few minutes. Our little guy is growin up so fast! Here is a picture I took a few minutes ago... he loves the piano Tracy gave him! Messy house but happy baby, I think that's a fair trade!

Half-Birthday

Tonight Anthony and I were singing Aidan a happy half birthday and as we got to the last verse he got that big pouty lip and looked like he was going to cry. It was the cutest thing ever. I mean, here we are singing a song and he gets upset! We tried again and as soon as we started he did it again. I went and grabbed the camera to snap a photo but by that time he was smiling.... of course!

Sleeping

I am so happy to let everyone know Aidan finally goes to sleep on his own! Well, just about. Since he was three weeks old I have been swaddling him and rocking him to sleep. For about 5 days now I have simply set him in his swing and he has fallen asleep!!! YAY! I am so excited. Now that he has learned to go to sleep without Mommy and without being swaddled our next step will be to move him back to his crib. One step at a time! It is so nice to not spend most of my day swaddling him and rocking him to sleep!!!

Oh my goodness, time is flying! Aidan is going to be 6 months old on Monday. Let me do the math for you, that's half a year old! He is getting so big. He just had his shots last week. He is a whopping 17 pounds and 26 inches long. I can't wait for those teeth to come through. He is quite the drooler. Crawling is right around the corner too! He rolls all over the place, this is his prefered mode of transportation. He scoot too. He pulls his legs up underneath him but not his arms yet. He also just figured out how to use his arms to push backwards!

Our little man is growing up so fast!
